Feline Rescue thinks the best way for you to get a feel for the work of the organization and it’s many dedicated volunteers is by letting our adopters (and their cats!) tell their own success stories.

Today we hear from Celayne, a past president of Feline Rescue, who adopted James, almost 11 years ago in August 2003!

 James

It was love at first sight when I saw the big orange cat in his kennel at Feline Rescue’s adoption center.  With his large head, paws the size of a small dog’s, and outgoing personality, he was enchanting.   I wasn’t sure I should add to my household, as my other cats were all getting along so well.  I couldn’t stop thinking about him, though, so I went back and adopted him.

He was named James by the shelter staff, as he had been picked up on James Avenue in St. Paul.  The name fit him somehow and I didn’t change it.

The other cats were not thrilled, especially my male cat Big Kitty, but we made it work.  Eleven years later, James has retired from making constant escape attempts, and he and Big Kitty have made amends. Sometimes, they even sleep together on their overstuffed chair.   James still enjoys the sport of tetherball, which he plays with the cord to the window blinds.  The little wooden ball on the end makes a delightful pinging sound when it hits the wall.  It’s an especially fun game when he can lure another cat into a game or two!
