Feline Rescue thinks the best way for you to get a feel for the work of the organization and its many dedicated volunteers is by letting our adopters (and their cats!) tell their own success stories.

Today we hear from Christy, who adopted Tawret (now Pumpkin) last May.

I am writing to thank you for bringing Pumpkin into my life. I adopted you from her on May 23 last year and she has brought so much joy to me over the last few months. She doesn’t look anything like a Pumpkin, but I called her that so much she thought it was her name, so it just stuck.

She still likes to drink from the faucets. Every time I go to a sink she rushes over and sticks her head under the water. During the warmer months, her favorite thing to do is watch the chickens in the yard next door. She is gloriously independent, curious about everything, a very picky eater, and she likes to play by stalking and grabbing my pant leg. She is most adorable when she lays on the rug on her back and curls her paws over like a squirrel.

She loves having her cheeks rubbed. In the morning, she wakes me up by licking my fingers. I’m not sure if she is actually showing affection or if she is letting me know that if I don’t feed her she will be forced to eat my fingers instead. She has trained me not to leave full glasses of water around, because she will push them off the edge of the table. The vet gave her a stuffed pumpkin, and she likes to hold it and kick it with her back legs.

Thank you again!  Christy
