Alumni Adopted in 2022

Chessie (formerly Darla)

We adopted “Darla” on January 23, 2022.  Now she’s Chessie—so named for the disappearing Cheshire Cat as well as the classic Chesapeake&Ohio Railroad sleeping kitten.  She’s not disappearing much now but is still fearful of being petted unless she’s distracted by food or tucked into a closet.  She spends a lot of time wherever we (her staff) hang around or in a sunbeam and is very playful and kittenish.  She loves her banana and the dreaded Red Spot!

– Charlie & Judith

Eleanor and Maxwell (formerly Edison and Ephraim)

Initially we didn’t think there was enough room in our small apartment to keep them in just one room (we only have three). So we let them out in our living room with the idea that if they hid quickly under the bed, we would just close the door there. They did not hide and within minutes of being let out, they were playing with each other! Eleanor found the fish tank quickly.

We showed them their litter boxes and where food and water are kept. They had a treat before bed and settled down well.  In just the few days that passed, we couldn’t be any happier with our decision to adopt these two! They are affectionate and energetic. Kristofer and I agreed that we had forgotten just how rambunctious young cats are! It is so much fun that I have been nearly brought to tears with my joy in having these two home with us.

-Amy & Kristofer

Heidi (formerly Jaune Flamme)

I spotted Jaune Flamme on the adoption floor during my shift and immediately fell in love. I called my husband and told him to drop by the shelter. We filled out our application on the spot and took her home about a week or so later. Her new name is Heidi.

We adopted a barn kitten, Hamish, in summer of 2020. At the time we also had a senior girl who wasn’t very fond of him 😉  Sadly, she passed this winter of cancer and we were on the lookout for a friend for him.

We had no idea if Heidi would be a good fit. But… safe to say that it seems to be working out! Attached are pictures of the two snuggling up (they play a lot too).  Heidi is less than half his weight!

We are so thankful for our new ‘lil lady and everything Feline Rescue does for cats!

-Alyssa

Duke (formerly The Duke of Toms)
I adopted Duke (full name The Duke of Toms) on February 28th, 2022. I knew from when I saw him in the shelter he was the one I wanted. This is my first cat I ever adopted, and getting Duke is the one of the best things that has happened in my life. He is very cuddly, and never skips the opportunity to sleep on my bed with me. He loves his toy wand and laser, and he also LOVES his meals and snacks. Although at first he is a bit shy when he sees anyone other than me, he gets comfortable with them fast and loves it when they rub his cheeks, chin and head. Overall, I’m grateful I have Duke in my life, and I want to thank Feline Rescue for doing what they do!

-Nasra

Poe (formerly Poe Dameron)
Here are a few photos of my new buddy Poe who is handsome and charming just like his namesake! Poe is such a sweetie, and I can tell somebody gave him a lot of love and care in his previous home. Thank you to them for raising such a gentleman! He is chatty and occasionally does zoomies, but during the day he’s usually curled up on my chair or in his bed. He was a big hit with everyone at the vet and makes new pals wherever he goes!

-Meher

Ethel

I adopted Ethel from Feline Rescue at the beginning of April.  She’s doing great and is also very spoiled.
Eddie and Henry (formerly Maverick and Eclipse)
We brought Eddie (fka Maverick) and Henry (fka Eclipse) home on June 8th. My 17 year old cat Lily lost her littermate back in March, and we also have a 1 year old Corgi (Lady) who was looking for some playmates closer to her age. 🙂 Eddie and Henry are fitting in really well! They give Lily a napping buddy, Lady a play buddy, and us hours of entertainment and snuggles. Thank you so much for helping us find our newest furbabies!

Jordy and Jetts (formerly Mel and Frank)
Jordy and Jetts quickly made themselves at home and have found their favorite sun spots. They love playing with ribbon toys and mice. They love cuddling with us.
-Shelby and Zach

Carrots (formerly Bonnie Raitt)

Freyja saved up money for the adoption fee and read a number of books about being a cat guardian.  It is an awesome match!

Bandit (formerly Ghibli)
We finally settled on “Bandit” because she is a bit of a food thief.  😉  She is great with the kids and our elderly dog and is very snuggly.  She warmed up to us on day one and has settled right in.  We are so glad to have her as part of our family!

Big thanks to Feline Rescue for our kitty – we are very appreciative!
Alycia
Cookie (formerly Cinderella)

Cookie acts like she’s lived here her whole life already.  She gets along great with our other cat, though she can be a little much for him sometimes since she always wants to play.  She’s become best friends with our daughter; they’re inseparable.  If it was up to Cookie, she would be allowed to sleep in the crib at night with our daughter.

-Marissa

CeCe (formerly known as Regina)
We absolutely love our sweet little girl! She’s already so spoiled and loved and fitting right in to being an only “child”. She’s super talkative especially at feeding time but she loves to cuddle with my boyfriend and I both.  We are so thankful to have been able to adopt her from you!

Emmy (formerly Emilia)

She is doing great we love her so much!!! She loves to play lots and also loves a good snuggle and nap. She even has a favorite toy she brings for us to play with her.

Peter Cottontail

He has provided us with so much love!

Teddy, Clover and Twilight

We adopted them at the end of April and they are happy as can be here in Stillwater.

Roquefort (formerly Cheesy Bread)

Roquefort is doing great! He has boundless energy and is adventurous. He LOVES going outside with his harness and in his backpack carrier.

Hephzibah

Hephzibah and our family are getting along REALLY well!  We love her so much and she has made her way with the dogs and her other new kitten buddy (Figaro). She loves sleeping on the duvet and getting belly scritches. She is so snuggly. Thank you so much for saving her and allow us to adopt her. She makes me smile every day.

Cookie (formerly Cookie Clicker)

It’s been one week since I brought Cookie home, and she’s doing amazing. She loves her new home and has adapted extremely well. I wanted to send you and the team a few pictures to show you how she’s doing in her forever home. Thanks for all you do!

Shoji

Shoji is doing great! He’s settling in splendidly. Here are some pictures in his new home! 🙂

Barney

Barney is doing great! He took about a week to adjust (and stop hiding under the sofa), but now he is bringing his favorite mouse toy to us to exchange for pets and play, or sleeping the day away on his favorite blankets. He is a very good host and comes out to greet our guests (and receive pets) shortly after they arrive, and he lies at my feet during board game night. My husband and housemate are both delighted by him, and we all appreciate how respectful he is.

Here are some pictures of him being especially cute or silly. Very glad to have him as part of our family.

Preciosa

Everything is going really well with Preciosa! I’m so happy that she seems to really like living with me and she keeps finding ways to melt my heart 🙂  I really don’t think I could have made a better choice than adopting her and I really think she’s liking having an apartment all to herself.

Oscar (formerly Oscar Meyer Catsheim)

Oscar came from a hard start in life.  With love and patience, this clever cat learned French and became the most loving boy!

Miss Banana (formerly Rachel Banana)

Miss Banana settled into the house almost immediately, even if she’s still not sure what to think of her new brother Henry; she likes to give him kisses and then swat him!  Her favorite things are napping, meal time, and holding her toy string in her mouth while softly chirping.  Her GI issues are well under control, and the vet said she’s doing well with her weight loss.  She’s so sweet!

Rascal & Junior

After two long years, these handsome brothers found their forever home!

Ketchup

We love our kitty Ketchup! Yes, the name stuck! She gets along great with Bella Butters! Her hobbies include the feather wand, string toys, and looking out the window. She loves running water, turkey giblets and anything in the dogs food bowl.  Thank you so much; we are very grateful to Feline Rescue.

Indigo

These two absolutely love each other and play all the time.  Indigo is just the sweetest cat ever!

Owen (formerly Kruger)

Owen came home in early May 2022.  Feline Rescue took him in from St. Paul Animal Control, treated his wound and had him chipped and neutered.

Owen and I are most appreciative for all you did. He certainly shows no ill effects from whatever his back story was.  He is affectionate. Plays with toys. Sits on laps. Purrs when he is touched. Runs to the door when someone knocks.  His personality is very big! He is a joy to be near. Thank you, thank you.

Denise (formerly Trixie)

I am so fortunate to have this pretty little lady in my home and my life.  I am still amazed everyday at how cute she is and I still get so excited every time she enters the room.  She is independent and does her own thing but also spends time with me for a nice balance. Birds and toys with feathers are her favorite, I suspect if she were an outdoor cat she would be an excellent hunter.  She has my back too, she helps me remember important things when I forget. She magically seems to knows sleep is extra important for me and she comes and “puts me to bed” each night and in the morning gently wakes me allowing me time to slowly get up. She absolutely loves sitting in the windows and has an interesting fondness for rugs. She is surprisingly social when guests come over and always comes to check them out.  The healing power of animals is incredible, within a week of her being in my home I noticed a slight reduction in my chronic pain. At just 8 lbs she is small for a cat and I just can’t get over how darling her tiny voice is coming from her tiny mouth, we talk to each other a lot.  She is a huge blessing in my life and I am so grateful to have this magnificent creature share my home with me.

 Theodore (Teddy for short/formerly Tchotchke)

He absolutely loves sitting on top of tables, desks, and tv stands. He also loves the window bed that I got for him and watches his favorite tv show (construction workers) for hours.

Boots

Boots is settling in well, when she first moved it we noticed she still had some anxiety and would get spooked by any loud noises so we have done our best to ease her into the home by staying conscious with noise control. That helped her transition; along with giving her plenty hiding spots, getting a Feliway diffuser set up in the main area she hangs around and keeping up with medication that helps her with pain and anxiety. We have noticed a big change in her behavior since and she seems less stressed and anxious.

She loves laying on laps, on the couch and on any pillows she can find. We found out that she loves the feather wand as her favorite toy as well! She doesn’t mind waking us up early in the morning but not for food but for some attention. Boots is very playful and did very well for her first vet visit where all my coworkers loved her!

Weegee aka Luigi

He’s doing so well. We permanently opened the door to his safe room and he blossomed.  Previously he was mostly hanging out under the bed, but now he is enjoying the open space and exploring the apartment. We are trying to find toys he can chase as he is interested in the toys but he much prefers to sit in our laps. Thanks so much for taking excellent care of him and taking him in, I was able to get an animal because my therapist wrote me a letter for an emotional support animal and when Luigi lays on me he is like a weighted blanket and instantly calms me down. We love Luigi so much.

Thud
We’re convinced Thud is the best cat ever!!! He’s such a lover boy! We call him a puddle because he just melts. He’s definitely a shadow and sticks by my side while I work from home. His favorite spots so far (besides our laps) are on the couch and his window perch in the office.

We love him and are so happy he’s a part of our family! We appreciate you guys!
Jordan (formerly Reed Wrangler)

Jordy is the snuggliest cat ever! Love 24/7 pets/hugs and exploring everywhere!

Tahlia, Frejya & Kymani (formerly Caramel, Toffee & Butterscotch) and FR senior cat Koyla (formerly Mew Two)

After an emergency rescue from a church window well, teen mama Caramel and her newborn kittens, Toffee & Butterscotch, grew into beautiful and wonderful cats.  They live happily together in a home full of toys and cat spaces for adventuring.

Kymani loves playing fetch and is very chatty.  Frejya loves to jump and climb.  Tahlia went from being a terrified young mama cat upon rescue to a cat who loves head rubs, is fine with being picked up and enjoys snuggling. They are a deeply bonded family with lots of love from their adopter who took all three home together!

Chewie (Chewie, the Chewster, Chewbacca and Choo Choo Train for his rumbling purr–formerly known as Briscoe)
Chewie has settled into his new home even faster than we could have dreamed. While still occasionally startled into hiding by unknown noises, Chewie pretty much has the run of the house and all of its human occupiers wrapped around his little toe beans. He’s not only curious, playful, and highly photogenic, but has proven himself to be a grade-A snuggler and bedfellow. When night rolls around, he’ll snuffle under the sheets and tuck in for some rest with his human. But when the sun comes up, he’ll find the earliest riser in the house and keep her company while she eats her breakfast. We’re convinced he’s part dog, because he’ll sometimes follow at our heels for evidently no other reason than for the pleasure of our company.  All in all, Chewie/Briscoe is a very fine cat indeed, and loved dearly. Huge thanks to Feline Rescue for bringing us together!
Beau (formerly Adrian)

Hi, all! Providing an update on Adrian, who is now named Beau (short for Beauregard). While shy at the shelter, he quickly adjusted to my place and is fully running it now.  Beau enjoys being held and carried around like a baby. I think to him, I am just a bed on legs!! He is wicked smart, and enjoys fully interacting with his environment- whether it be nibbling on things, knocking them over, or carrying them off like a prize. Beau has the loudest purr I’ve ever heard, and loves nuzzling my neck more than anything thank you for taking such good care of him while at Feline Rescue! I am a former volunteer from over a decade ago- you guys run an amazing shelter. Thank you all!

Toonie (formerly Kit Frank)
In roughly 4 months since adoption, baby Toonie has paradoxically grown from a shy teen mother into an energetic kitten with tremendous moxie. As predicted by her fosters, she has slowly and steadily come out of her shell. Learning to cuddle, play, hunt, scratch on furniture, and harass her human when he’s trying to sleep (to get revenge for when he does the same to her). Despite her wide selection of toys to choose from, her favorite toy tends to be a chapstick that she bats around on the floor for entertainment. She looks forward to TV time every night so she can cuddle up in a blanket with her humans.

We are lucky to have her and are so appreciative to the Feline Rescue and all the fosters for all they do!

Victor
Having Victor has just been so wonderful. I feel so lucky that I adopted him, and everyone who has met him has told me that I am!

Victor is such a loving, playful, and confident kitty! The day I brought him home, he confidently and methodically explored every bit of my apartment, and then demanded his dinner. He snuggled with me on the couch, and afterwards fell asleep on the bed with me and my partner. On New Year’s Eve (two weeks later), I hosted a party, and he greeted everyone at the door and remained outside in the living room with us all throughout the night, playing with guests and allowing pets with no problem. He never once hid under the bed or sofa, which is something that I had never seen before from a cat (or at least the 10 other cats in my friend group of 12)!

He’s a total people-cat, and also very clever and food-motivated. He totally trained me to feed him breakfast ASAP with his meows in the morning, until I caught on about a few weeks in. A friend got him a sushi bento box puzzle toy for Christmas with holes for treats, and he quickly got the hang of it. I just got him a bigger version of that toy with more holes and parts to move, and he knew what to do right away. Given his love for people and food, I have decided to clicker train him to become a certified therapy cat, and hopefully volunteer with PAWS in the future at college campuses in the area, which I am really looking forward to doing! We are just now starting with some simple commands, so I will have to follow up with more updates as he progresses!

For now, we spend most of our days hanging out together as I get to work from home. After he has his breakfast, he hangs out on his cat tree while I eat my own food, and he typically spends most of my workday sleeping or catching the view up there. If he’s not sleeping, he’ll follow me around and wait for me outside of the bathroom in his signature loaf position, which is just adorable, and gets up and meows when I open the door and see him there. I play with him after every meal (he loves his feather wands!) and during work breaks when I get the chance. I love this little man so much, and I am so happy and grateful that he’s in my life! He’s a year old and I know he had a hard start having been found as a stray and then spending two months in quarantine, but you’d never know this from meeting him. I know that we owe this to all the love and care that was given to him by all of the staff and volunteers at Feline Rescue! We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who has been involved on his journey!

Wilby (formerly Slippers)

He’s very cuddly. He’s finally come out and explored the rest of our apartment; so far his favorite hiding spots are our linen closet and under the couch. He is just the little guy we needed to brighten our days!

Betty

She has been an absolute joy and a big talker. I love seeing her smiling happy face, talking my ear off when I get home from work everyday.  She loves sleeping in the sun all day and keeping me up all night. She also LOVES food. She begs me for my food from afar (I’ve trained her to sit about 10 feet away from me while I eat). Thank you for letting me give Betty a great life!!

Mew and Mewtwo
Two siblings. Inseparable.
Pixel and Perkins

Pixel (formerly Bing!) has been with me for eight years (since 2014) and I was worried he and kitten Perkins (affectionately called Perkie) would get along. But after a few nights in the bathroom for Perkie, they snuggle when Pixel allows it. And Perkie is a playful addition to our home.

Thanks Feeling Rescue for helping me adopt my chromatic cats.
Cooper

We adopted him from y’all in November, and it has been such a joy adding him to our home. He’s gotten so comfortable here and feels right at home.

He likes to run around and play with all of his toys, and keeps them organized by piling them up next to his food bowl. He also LOVES that one of his humans works from home, and is always in sight (he can’t hear, so he really likes to see us). His favorite nap spots are his window bed and a little empty corner of a bookshelf that he’s claimed as his own.

Ichabod Crane

Thought you guys might like to know that the formerly troubled kitten Ichabod Crane has become a totally different cat and is thriving in his new home. We’re going on a year since
we adopted him and although there were some challenges along the way he has come to feel at home here and he has come to trust us. He hardly ever bites anymore, only when
we make a gesture that might trigger him. We don’t know what you guys did with him but he knows the meaning of “No!” and “No biting.”

He has become a cuddly lap cat who often wants to relax either on or next to us. He loves human contact, allows us to pet him anywhere and anytime, accepts head, neck and belly scratches, and is often a purring machine. He sleeps at the foot of the bed and always at least once a night comes to nestle his head against ours, purring and often falling asleep.
I guess that’s total trust.

He follows me around the house. When I go to the basement he runs down the stairs and usually gets there first. When I come up from the basement he runs up the stairs and usually gets there first. Sometimes he just runs around the house for the joy of it. Last summer he spent a lot of time in our porch which became his safe place and where he got to watch a lot of wildlife frolicking outside. Now that the weather has improved he is once again spending much time out there even though he has the run of the rest of the house.

If he has an irritating habit it’s his insistence that he be allowed to monitor and contribute to any online computer activity. He just sent you this unique and important message: “tghuyhhhh7tgggggggggggggggg”

Every day we comment on what a different kitten he has become and how grateful we are that you guys cared for him until he could come to live with us. Thanks for that and for everything else that you do for our feline friends.

Shirley (formerly Mayfred)

One year ago today I brought beautiful Shirley home from the Feline Rescue. She had been a stray and was still in survival mode. She would beg loudly for her food whenever I would open a can of it and then would eat as much as she could as fast as she could until she vomited because she was afraid that resident cat Mori would try to steal it from her, and she didn’t trust that she would get more. She would bite any human hand that touched her and would push away from me any time I had to pick her up because she didn’t trust that people wouldn’t hurt her. And she thought that she had to fight Mori for food and territory and love. But just below her tough street girl exterior, I could see the sweet heart of a girl who wanted to be loved when she would stealthily curl up against me while I was crocheting and didn’t notice her there right away. I gave her her own safe space away from Mori during the three months it took her to get to know him and gave her three small meals each day. I told her I would love her on her own terms, which she indicated meant playing with wand toys with her every day and not petting her so much. We had some really rough days with her trying to attack Mori, and I had my doubts about whether it would work out for her to stay. But I couldn’t give up on my sweet girl, and eventually she stopped trying to fight Mori. And she started regulating her eating. And she started confidently stepping onto my lap to sleeping there while accepting as much petting as I want to give her. And within the last two months since we have started going outside again, she has been introducing herself to every neighbor (and their dogs and cats) and making friends, charming them all with her physical beauty and her sweet personality. I am really seeing her blossoming into the sweet, curious, loving, confident kitty she always wanted to be underneath the tough survivor she had to become. Even though it took a lot of hard work and blind faith, it is so amazing and gratifying to see it pay off this way! I love my sweet rescue girl so very much, and I hope that we have many more years together ahead of us!

Skit

Skitty is doing great! Turns out she also has food allergies, but since we changed her diet, she’s been doing great. She’s super sweet and very talkative. She loves being pet and will flop over and make air biscuits while you pet her. She also loves the laser pointer.
