Feline Rescue Mews – April 2020
An Update for Feline Rescue Donors, Volunteers, and Other Supporters
During this COVID-19 crisis, Feline Rescue has taken the following actions to protect its volunteers, the general public and its cats:
- The shelter is temporarily closed and all 57 Feline Rescue cats are in foster care homes.
- Adoptions are currently on hold and will be reassessed after April 10.
- If the stay-at-home restrictions are extended beyond April 10, we will be looking at administrative procedures and social-distancing spaces for potential in-person adoption meetings.
- Multiple foster caregivers have been doing video visits with potential adopters. We have many adopters who want to meet in person when a process is established that is comfortable for both the adopter and the foster caregiver.
- We have added more than 30 new foster homes to our foster care list in the past few weeks.
- Essential medical care is being provided to our cats as needed, but non-emergency services, such as spay/neuter surgeries are being delayed.
- We will continue to accept the return of Feline Rescue adopted cats to maintain our lifetime commitment to them. If an adopter needs to return a cat, please use the Intake Inquiry form on the website. During the time the shelter is closed, rooms and walls are being repaired and painted, and other general maintenance and repair work is being done.
- All scheduled Cat Claw Clipping Clinics have been canceled until further notice.
- Other events that were in the planning stages are currently on hold.
- We are pursuing some additional funding through grant applications.
