To ensure that Feline Rescue merits the respect and trust of donors and prospective donors, we declare that our donors have these rights: 

• To be informed of the organization’s mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes; 

• To be informed of the identity of those serving on Feline Rescue’s Board of Directors and to expect the Board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities; 

• To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given; 

• To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition; 

• To be assured that information about their donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law; 

• To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists;  

• To be assured that Feline Rescue does not does not sell, share, or trade donor information under any circumstance.  

• To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers. 

Feline Rescue takes the following steps to ensure that personal information remains secure: 

• A donor’s personal information is retained in a secure database that is separate from the volunteer database. This database is only available to a limited number of individuals on a need-to-know basis. Although the database may contain personal information such as name, address, and donation history, credit card and/or banking information is not retained. 

• The Feline Rescue website does not retain donor information.  Online donations are made through a secure form processed through Go Emerchant; this organization uses secure servers and encryption to protect financial and other personal information during transmission of donations directly to Feline Rescue’s bank account(s). Reports from these services are available to obtain address information and donation amounts; Feline Rescue would never receive credit card or bank account information.   

• Feline Rescue does not track visitors to the website. No information is gathered from the website; it provides information only. Feline Rescue does not collect personal information from our visitors other than what is supplied to us on a voluntary basis. 

• Individuals receive e-mail newsletters (e-news) from Feline Rescue if they expressly sign up for e-news on the Feline Rescue website, if they donate to the organization, or if they adopt a cat/kitten. The information that is gathered from subscribers to our e-news lists (including e-mail addresses) is not shared with other non-Feline Rescue affiliated organizations or companies. From time to time, Feline Rescue may send out e-mail messages that might include information about like-minded organizations and companies, but Feline Rescue does not provide them with access to personal information. 

In order to provide better and more relevant information, information may be compiled about e-mail response and website usage. This information helps the organization better understand site usage patterns and also what types of content and information may help improve the user experience on Feline Rescue’s website. 

All e-mail messages sent to e-mail newsletter subscribers contain a link to unsubscribe or to modify a profile. An individual may subscribe or unsubscribe to any e-news or e-mail communication from Feline Rescue at any time. If an individual chooses to unsubscribe, only the individual can re-activate the subscription.
